This is an old One! A Nice example of a 100+-year old Used camera. It's the "chimney hood" Curtan Aperture type that Margaret Bourke-White used for all those great Depression era photos. It's an Auto Graflex Large Format 3 1/4 X 4 1/4 inch Ca mera---- made from about 1907 through the 1920's--- I don't know exactly when or what variation this might be but I expect you will. It has a f/4.5 Tessar lens made by Bausch & Lomb Optical in Rochester, NY.
It also comes with a Pack Film holder on the back. It's in Very Good Condition overall--- it has some minor nicks, scuffs, scratches, and some spots of shrinking and loose leather---- normal age wear and tear. The various latches seem to work as far as I can tell, and the main picture taking functions work fairly but not completely well. The Curtain Shutter cycles---- but it has a lot of wrinkles and it needs some coaxing to travel. So naturally, the different speeds have Not been tested--- so that will need some rehab.
But, everything else that should be on the camera looks to be there and there is no other major damage that I see. The bellows is in Very Nice condition--- worn but no major damage that I can see. The chimney Hood pops up well and is in solid shape ---- it has an Exposure Table plate mounted inside--- I never saw it that way before. The Reflex Mirror is complete with some spots and dust but it's still reasonably clear. The lens glass is Super Clean--- clear all the way, No fog or glue separation, just a few dust specs that I see.
So consider it a collectible, or an Excellent candidate for a rehabilitation/restoration with some work---- so please don't expect it to be like new---- it has some issues, both known and unknown. What you see is what you'll get--- the actual item for sale is pictured--- please check them all out. It will be packed well and safe.I'm not here trying to rip anybody off or sneak one past you. I'm not into having things go back and forth based on opinion, or risk "part swapping" either.
I've been a photographer for 30+ years and I know how cameras work and what to look for and can recognize when something is broken. But I can't "Bench Test" every thing to factory specs and unless it's Brand New...
I can't guarantee that every single aspect may be Perfect. Any significant defects that I know of are either pictured or described to the best of my knowledge and I try to be detailed and truthful, but I can't describe every every millimeter of it--- and I might have missed something. What you see is what you'll get and I package my items well, so it arrives in the same condition as shown.Let's make a deal.
